
JAKARTA (Indonesia), OMIKAMI TV - The existence of information on the discovery of new strains or variants of the Covid-19 virus, which according to various ilimiah data has a faster rate of spread, the Government decided to temporarily close the entry of foreign nationals to Indonesia as a preventive measure, (12/28/2020).
"The limited cabinet meeting on December 28, 2020 decided to temporarily close from January 1 to 14, 2021 the entry of foreign nationals or foreigners from all countries to Indonesia," Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said at a press conference on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the President's Office.
For foreigners arriving in Indonesia from December 28 to December 31, 2020, rules are applied in accordance with the provisions in the Circular Letter of the Task Force handling Covid-19 Number 3 Year 2020. Through this provision, foreigners who will enter Indonesia are required to show the results of RT-PCR test from the country of origin and conduct a re-examination upon arrival in Indonesia.
"Showing negative results through RT-PCR test in the country of origin that applies a maximum of 2x24 hours before the departure time and attached at the time of health examination or e-HAC (electronic health alert card) international Indonesia. Upon arrival in Indonesia, re-examine RT-PCR and if it shows negative results, then the WNA conducts a mandatory quarantine for five days starting from the date of arrival," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs who was present accompanied by a Government Spokesperson for handling Covid-19 Prof. Wiku Adisasmito.
After going through quarantine for five days, WNA will re-examine with RT-PCR method. If the result is negative, visitors are allowed to continue their journey.
Meanwhile, in accordance with Law No. 6 of 2011 article 14, Indonesian citizens (Indonesian citizens) are still allowed to return to Indonesia with the provisions of the addendum of the circular letter similar to the provisions applicable to foreigners.
Indonesian citizens who will return to Indonesia are also asked to show negative results through RT-PCR test from the country of origin which is valid for a maximum of 2x24 hours before the departure time and attached during a medical examination or e-HAC. Upon arrival in Indonesia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs explained, Indonesian citizens must also conduct a mandatory re-examination and quarantine for five days before re-examination with negative results so that they can continue their journey.
"Upon arrival in Indonesia, re-examine RT-PCR and if it shows negative results, then conduct a mandatory quarantine for five days from the date of arrival at the quarantine accommodation provided by the government. After a five-day quarantine, indonesian citizens re-examine RT-PCR and if the results are negative, it is allowed to continue the journey," he said.
Please note, the policy of temporary closure of foreigners' travel to Indonesia is excluded for official visits of ministerial level officials and above levels. The visit was also carried out by implementing very strict health protocols.
The policy will soon be outlined in a new circular of the Task Force on Handling Covid-19.
