BPBD: Hot Clouds of Mount Semeru Volcano Reaches 3,000 Meters at 02.00 WIB



JAKARTA (Indonesia) , OMIKAMI-TV – The hot cloud of autumn from Mount Semeru is a launch distance of up to 2,000 meters in the direction of Besuk Kobokan. The event was monitored on Tuesday (1/12), at 01.23 WIB by the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) located at the Mount Semeru Observation Post in The Yellow Kajar Hamlet of Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro District, Lumajang Regency.

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lumajang District reported at about 23:35 WIB, visually visible incandescent lava fall from the tip of the lava tongue, estimated as far as 1,000 meters. While the hot cloud of autumn, this is visible at 01.23 WIB with a launch distance of 2,000 meters. Furthermore, at 02.00 WIB, the hot cloud of autumn has reached 3,000 meters.

Meanwhile, at around 03.00 AM, the local BPBD reported rain mixed with volcanic ash falling around the observation post.This condition is estimated to have a strong heat lava potential.

Then, the Bpbd Rapid Reaction Team (TRC) of Lumajang Regency went down to the disaster-prone area (KRB) I to monitor the situation.



At the time of the hot cloud of autumn is still ongoing, people who are in the KRB room A area, Curah Koboan and Rowobaung in the district pronojiwo began to evacuate independently. This happened around 3:45 a.m. TRC in the field urged residents to remain calm and not panic when the volcanic event accompanied the evacuation efforts.

About 1 hour later, TRC again dropped off 1 team to bring equipment and equipment, such as tarpaulins, mattresses, masks, side dishes packages, additional nutrition, blankets, mineral water and first aid.

Local BPBD provisional data recorded the number of displaced people as many as 500 people scattered at several points, such as at The Mount Sawur Post, Supiturang Elementary School and local mosques. There were no reports of casualties due to Mount Semeru's volcanic activity.

BPBD Lumajang regency has asked the people of Koboan Bulk Hamlet, Supiturang Village and Rowobaung Hamlet, Oro-Oro Ombo Village, Pronojiwo District, and Kajar Kuning Hamlet, Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro District to leave the house because of the potential for hot lava that can crash due to the potential for rain.

In addition, many residents are doing mining activities in the watersheds of Rejali, Besuk Semut and Besuk Sat.

Responding to emergency efforts, BPBD deployed teams to monitor the condition of the field and opened evacuation posts in the field to temporarily accommodate those who carried out the evacuation.
