
CENTRAL LOMBOK REGENCY (Indonesia), OMIKAMI-TV - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed his gratitude to all parties who have supported the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP event, ranging from the people of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) to the organizers.
"I want to express my deepest gratitude, especially to the people of NTB, the people of Lombok who have given their full support and also all parties, both the organizers and all workers who have worked day and night to prepare this big event," said the President in his statement after watching this international motorcycle racing event, at the Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok Regency, NTB, Sunday (20/03/2022).
The President admitted that there are still things that can be improved so that the implementation of MotoGP in the future can run better.
"There are still things that need to be evaluated, improved. I think this is a long-term event, next year we will fix it again if there are shortcomings," he said.
Previously, the President also took to the podium to hand over the trophy to the winners of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia MotoGP class. The first podium was achieved by Miguel Oliveira, a red bull KTM Factory Racing team rider, who was able to complete 20 laps of the race with a time of 33 minutes 27.223 seconds. In addition to Oliveira, the Head of State also handed the trophy to Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP rider Fabio Quartararo who took the second podium and Pramac Ducati rider Johann Zarco who occupied the third podium.
The President revealed that he supports Repsol Honda Team rider Marc Marquez in this international motorcycle racing event. However, because Marquez was absent, the President also turned to support Fabio Quartararo who finally finished on the second podium.
"The hero is Marc Marquez, but because he did not change to Fabio Quartararo, the 2nd place," Jokowi said.
On this occasion, the Head of State also conveyed souvenirs to Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta. The parcel, named Indonesia Spice Up The World (ISUTW), contains a variety of spices from Indonesia.
"I have conveyed it to the CEO of Dorna, Mr. Carmelo," concluded the President.
Also present to watch the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP with the President and Mrs. Iriana included the Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament Bambang Soesatyo, The Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
